In the March 31 Local Elections, the eligibility of DEM Party Mayoral candidate Abdullah Zeydan, who came in first in Van, was revoked, and the certificate of election was given to the AKP candidate Abdulahat Arvas, who came in second.
Following an objection by the DEM Party, the YSK decided to return the certificate of election to Abdullah Zeydan, while a similar situation occurred in the Saray district of Van.
In Saray, the DEM Party won the election with 51.16 percent of the vote, while the CHP came in second with 28.29 percent.
Following the election, CHP Saray District Deputy Chair Yasin Arslan requested an investigation into whether there were any issues regarding the prohibited rights of DEM Party candidate Davut Acar. After the investigation, no issues were found regarding Acar's prohibited rights.
According to the report by journalist Seyhan Avşar, the CHP has expelled Yasin Arslan, the CHP Saray District Deputy Chair who had applied for an investigation into the prohibited rights of the DEM Party candidate who won the election in Van's Saray district.
