Former CHP US Representative Yurter Özcan had been referred to the High Disciplinary Board following his statement criticizing Chairman Özgür Özel.

According to the report by Mahir Kılıç from Habertürk, an expulsion decision was issued against Özcan.

Özcan, who was expelled from his party, made a statement regarding the matter on his social media account.

Stating that he learned of the decision from the press and that the process was not in accordance with the law, Özcan noted the following:

"I learned from media reports a short while ago that an expulsion decision was issued against me by the CHP High Disciplinary Board today. I did not make a defense regarding my disciplinary process, nor was I invited to give a statement. Neither I nor my lawyer was informed about the process. If this expulsion decision is true, it means that the Özgür Özel administration is no different from the AKP. SEE YOU IN COURT.”

WHAT HAPPENED?

Özcan had criticized the statements made by Özgür Özel regarding him on Halk TV's 'Yeni Bir Sabah' program hosted by İsmail Küçükkaya and said, "The comments he made about the US on Halk TV today are unfortunately full of errors."

Özcan had written the following:

"If Mr. Özgür had met with CHP members instead of walking in Central Park or eating steak with special sauce at the ultra-luxury Wolfgang Puck steakhouse when he came to New York, what I have written here would have been explained to him. It was conveyed to us that he did not want a welcome at the airport or a meeting with CHP volunteers before his trip to the US, where we receive 85 percent of the votes as the CHP.

1) There are not 52 states in the US, there are 50 states.

2) There is no need to open a Representative Office in every state. Half of the voters are registered with the New York Consulate General.

3) The voter turnout rate in the US is not very low. It is around 40 percent. The overseas average is only 50 percent.

4) Although the US is 12 times larger than Turkey in terms of surface area, a country of 10 million square kilometers, voting takes place in only 8 locations. Our citizens traveled within the US by plane and bus, voted in a state of mobilization, and accompanied the votes back to Turkey. Not a single penny was requested from the Headquarters for these efforts.

5) During the 12 years I served as the CHP US Representative, Mr. Özgür requested support on various issues many times and contacted me. If necessary, I can remind him of those communications again.

6) There has been no infiltration by any terrorist organization into the CHP US Representative Office to date."
