Tunceli Governor Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu was appointed to his post in 2023 and began managing the municipality as a trustee after the Tunceli Mayor was removed from office on November 22, 2024. Tekbıyıkoğlu most recently made headlines for his stance against a terrorist commemoration event that was planned to be held in the city.

HE WANTED TO INTERVENE IN THE TERRORIST COMMEMORATION

According to allegations, Governor Tekbıyıkoğlu opposed a commemoration event held on May 17, 2025, for two individuals described as leaders of the PKK terrorist organization in Tunceli. However, it was claimed that the event in question was authorized following a phone call from Ankara. Following this development, it was alleged that Tekbıyıkoğlu submitted a petition to the Ministry of Interior requesting to be reassigned to the Central Governor's Office and appointed as a Chief Civil Inspector.

APPOINTED TO THE CENTRAL GOVERNOR'S OFFICE

According to a report by NOW TV, the Ministry of Interior accepted Tunceli Governor Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu's request and reassigned him to the Central Governor's Office.

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Interior, the following was stated: "Tunceli Governor Mr. Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu has been placed at the disposal of the Ministry of Interior. Deputy Governor Mr. Ertuğrul Aslan has been appointed as the acting Tunceli Governor. Respectfully announced to the public."

Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu made his first post on his social media account after being reassigned to the central government. Tekbıyıkoğlu shared a video prepared by the Tunceli Governor's Office press team with the note, "I would like to thank my press team very much for this beautiful farewell gift."

The video featured the work, actions, and visits carried out by Tekbıyıkoğlu during his tenure as Governor. At the end of the video, the message, "This video is a farewell and thank-you gift from the Tunceli Governor's Office to our Governor, who left a mark with his contributions to Tunceli during his term," was shared.
