IYI Party Chair Meral Akşener decided to hold an elective congress due to the results obtained in the local elections and announced that she would not be a candidate for the chairmanship.

First, IYI Party Deputy Chair Mehmet Tolga Akalın, then IYI Party Group Deputy Chair Müsavat Dervişoğlu, and IYI Party Group Chair Koray Aydın announced their candidacy for the chairmanship.

While the names in the chairmanship race began to emerge, Izmir Deputy Ümit Özlale, who held important positions in the IYI Party, announced his resignation from his party on his social media account.

Ümit Özlale stated the following on his social media account:

''Dear IYI Party Family,

For a long time, I have been proud to work for our country with you as a member of the Movement of the Good (İyiler Hareketi).

However, at the point we have reached, I see with sadness that our party no longer has the excitement of its early days, that it is not possible to offer reasonable solutions, and that it is impossible to produce politics.

For this reason, I have decided to submit my resignation.

Working with you and serving on behalf of our nation has always been a great honor and privilege for me.
