He had said 'I deserve another term': Tunç Soyer's 'candidacy' decision for İzmir!

As the country heads toward the 2024 Local Elections, the candidate application process within political parties continues.

In the CHP, where the candidate determination process has begun to be discussed, incumbent İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer has submitted his application to the CHP İzmir Provincial Presidency to run for office again.

Soyer delivered his file to CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu for a second term as mayor.

The Republican People's Party will conduct satisfaction surveys for its incumbent mayoral candidates outside of Istanbul, Ankara, and Aydın. Chairman Özgür Özel had also signaled that candidates could change in other municipalities, especially in İzmir, by stating, “We have not given our word to anyone other than our three metropolitan mayoral candidates.”

"I THINK I DESERVE ANOTHER TERM"

Tunç Soyer, who stated that he is not afraid of the polls, had used the expressions, “My greatest source of morale and energy comes from the streets. I think I deserve another term.”

“IZMIR RESIDENTS VOTE FOR SECULARISM AND DEMOCRACY”

Tunç Soyer said the following in a television program he attended recently;

“The people of İzmir do not just vote for a political party or just for service performance; they also vote for democracy, secularism, freedom, and independence. For this reason, we compete with ourselves, asking 'how can we do better?' That is why we strive to grow İzmir's place in the world. The relationships we have established in Europe are also aimed at this goal. Next week, on the 27th, we will hopefully be declared the European Youth Capital. 2026 will be the year we bring our youth together with the youth of Europe. You will see that we will once again carry İzmir forward as the locomotive of Anatolia and Turkey, and as the herald of innovations and enlightenment in Anatolia.”
