He had said 'It was for the best': İmamoğlu's comment on Büyükerşen following the 'Ünlüce' decision in Eskişehir

The uncertainty surrounding the Republican People's Party's (CHP) candidacy in Eskişehir was resolved following yesterday's Party Assembly (PM) meeting. Following the decision, the first statement came from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

CHP's candidacy in Eskişehir, which had remained uncertain following the PM meeting, has been decided.

In line with the recommendation of Yılmaz Büyükerşen, who has served as the Mayor of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality for 25 years, the municipal secretary-general Ayşe Ünlüce was nominated as the candidate for Eskişehir.

Evaluating Ünlüce's candidacy, Büyükerşen had said, "Ünlüce was a name supported by all three of our district mayors; it was for the best for Eskişehir."

Following the decision, the first comment came from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

İmamoğlu stated the following in his post on X:

"Our Eskişehir Mayor, Mr. Yılmaz Büyükerşen, will always be by our side as an elder whose knowledge and experience we will continue to benefit from. What he has contributed to Eskişehir and the urban planning vision he has put forward will be an example to us all. Heartfelt thanks for his efforts."
