Badanin woke up on the morning of June 29 to a raid on his home by the Russian security service, the FSB. After his house and car were searched, he was interrogated at the police station. Badanin's book contains many details about Putin's private life. The book alleges that Putin had affairs with many women while married to his wife, Lyudmila. His relationship with Svetlana Krivonogikh is particularly noteworthy. After meeting Putin, Krivonogikh began living a luxurious life, and the couple had a daughter.
Another of Putin's relationships was with rhythmic gymnast Alina Kabaeva. Following her relationship with Putin, Kabaeva had two children and became the head of a major media organization. However, this relationship led to the end of Putin's marriage to his wife, Lyudmila.
