His candidacy had sparked reactions: CHP's decision on Lütfü Savaş for Hatay!

While reactions continue over the CHP's decision to re-nominate incumbent mayor Lütfü Savaş in Hatay, journalist Sedat Bozkurt claimed, “Weeks ago, it was agreed in the Central Executive Committee (MYK) to replace Lütfü Savaş, even if it was not turned into an official decision. Now they want to support this with polls.”

The Republican People's Party (CHP) has decided to continue with incumbent mayor Lütfü Savaş in Hatay, one of the cities most affected by the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş.

While the CHP's decision on Lütfü Savaş sparked reactions, earthquake survivors protested Lütfü Savaş during the February 6 commemoration.

Kısa Dalga columnist Sedat Bozkurt claimed that following these developments, the CHP would once again put Savaş's candidacy on the table.

In his column, Bozkurt noted the following regarding the issue:

“Municipal mayoralties determined by appointment due to the high probability of being elected will be announced next week. I don't think there is any need to explain at length the reasons why the guaranteed seats are left for last. We are already seeing the objections in the guaranteed seats announced so far. The same debates will happen again. In fact, these debates will grow even larger. Knowing this, the CHP management wants to move the debates to a different area by announcing another name instead of Lütfü Savaş for Hatay. You will witness this, don't worry. Weeks ago, it was agreed in the MYK to replace Lütfü Savaş, even if it was not turned into an official decision. Now they want to support this with polls.”
