Continuing its local election campaign, the Republican People's Party (CHP) introduced its mayoral candidates.
At the event held in Ankara yesterday (February 18), the name of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş, whose candidacy has sparked reactions, was not announced.
According to a report by Saygı Öztürk from Sözcü, CHP Deputy Chairman in charge of local governments Gökan Zeybek called Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş, who was in Ankara and preparing to go to the sports hall where the introduction was to take place, before the candidate introduction meeting and said, "Your candidacy will not be announced today. It has been understood from the latest polls that your vote share is low. Our Chairman wants to speak with you."
LÜTFÜ SAVAŞ IS UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE DEVELOPMENTS
Around 1:00 PM, Lütfü Savaş called Chairman Özgür Özel, but was unable to reach him. For this reason, Savaş decided not to go to the hall. While the Hatay district and town mayoral candidates took their places in the hall, Lütfü Savaş decided not to attend because he was extremely uncomfortable and tense due to the developments.
It was stated by his close circle that Lütfü Savaş, who has recently become a focus of debate regarding whether he would be nominated, could also receive candidacy offers from other political parties. One source also commented that 'this is being applied as a tactic to keep Savaş's situation uncertain until the hour when candidate lists are submitted to the YSK, so as not to leave time for him to apply for candidacy from another party.'
