HKP files 'diploma' application to the Constitutional Court

The People's Liberation Party (HKP)applied to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality for the disclosure of Erdoğan's diploma. After the request was rejected, the matter was taken to the Information Evaluation Board, but the board also rejected the application.

APPLICATION TO THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT FOLLOWING THE REJECTION

HKP subsequently filed a lawsuit against the rejection decisions. In the lawsuit, which argued that information regarding Erdoğan's diploma cannot be considered personal data and that the president, who represents the country, is not an ordinary individual, the Ankara 7th Administrative Court also issued a rejection decision.

Regarding the situation, HKP Central Executive Committee member lawyer Pınar Akbina filed an application to the Constitutional Court (AYM) on behalf of HKP Chairman Nurullah Efe.

The petition, which stated that the "rule of law and the principle of legality," the "right to petition, access information, and apply to the ombudsman," and the "right to an effective remedy" were violated, requested that "Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's university diploma, which is held within the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, be shared with the entire public."

"WHERE IS ERDOĞAN'S DIPLOMA?"

Making a statement on the matter, lawyer Pınar Akbina said, "The People's Liberation Party continues to ask the real question that the manufactured opposition in parliament cannot, or rather does not, ask—the question that would overturn the table: 'Where is Erdoğan's diploma?' Erdoğan's diploma, while he sits in the presidential office, can never be personal data, and its sharing with the public cannot be subject to his permission."
