Speaking at a press conference held at the TBMM, HÜDA PAR Spokesperson and Batman MP Serkan Ramanlı defended Sheikh Said.

Stating that "The zakat of Sheikh Said Efendi's nobility is enough and more for all of you," Ramanlı claimed that the accusation that Sheikh Said collaborated with the British was a slander and that "those who resemble the British were the Independence Tribunal team."

"SHEIKH SAID IS AN ISLAMIC HERO"

Ramanlı responded to a question regarding Sheikh Said with the following expressions:

"First of all, it must be stated that Sheikh Said is an Islamic hero. When we look at history, historical figures, and events, we do so to take lessons, to ensure mistakes are not repeated, and to find common ground in truths. That is how we read and recognize them. Many pains were suffered and many hardships were endured in this country in the past. But today, instead of learning lessons from those historical events, instead of saying 'let these historical events not happen again, let our brotherhood be strengthened, our unity be permanent, and let us establish social peace,' trying to stir up old records and gain political rent by insulting the values of society is a great shame for politics."

"TO SAY THAT SHEIKH SAID COLLABORATED WITH THE BRITISH IS SLANDER"

"Those labels attributed to Sheikh Said Efendi are also thought by me and millions of people who think like me about those who hanged Sheikh Said Efendi. Moreover, for the same reasons. I only want to touch upon two of those alleged labels and insults. A slander is being carried out through the discourse that Sheikh Said Efendi was a British agent or collaborated with the British. Of course, those whose political consciousness is limited to history of revolution textbooks may not make much sense of what I am saying, but it is quite possible to see who resembles the British and who cannot be distinguished from the British when you see the photos of Sheikh Said Efendi and the photos of that Independence Tribunal team that hanged him. The second point is, of course, we are not a political movement that deals with lineage and ancestry. But I want to express here that Sheikh Said Efendi was a descendant of our Prophet, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and that this lineage is more valuable than the lineage of not just us, the MPs of this period, but all the MPs who have ever served in this parliament, and that even the zakat of that nobility is enough and more for all past and present members of parliament."
