Özel stated that Erdoğan personally called a CHP mayor and offered them a transfer to the AKP.
According to a report by İsmail Saymaz from Halk TV, Özel said that Erdoğan told the mayor, "You are successful. How did you win that district? I couldn't believe my eyes. I have a congress in February, will you join us? You are a clean man, I know that's why I'm calling you, but they will smear you, God forbid."
