'İmamoğlu' blamed for the wave of resignations in IYI Party: 'He didn't know Akşener well enough'

Hürriyet newspaper columnist Abdulkadir Selvi pointed to Ekrem İmamoğlu as the person responsible for the wave of resignations in the IYI Party. Selvi stated, "I think Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is trying to eliminate Akşener by conducting an operation on the IYI Party, did not know Meral Akşener well enough."

Hürriyet newspaper columnist Abdulkadir Selvi claimed that attempts are being made to bring Meral Akşener to her knees with the resignations coming from the IYI Party, stating, "I think Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is trying to eliminate Akşener by conducting an operation on the IYI Party, did not know Meral Akşener well enough. Meral Akşener does the exact opposite whenever she is pushed into a corner. I wouldn't be surprised if she puts forward a strong candidate against Ekrem İmamoğlu."

"IT WAS A CHALLENGE"

Selvi also claimed that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu tried to stir up the IYI Party following Akşener's decision not to form an alliance in the local elections, and said the following:

"IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman of the IMM, İbrahim Özkan, made statements in favor of supporting Ekrem İmamoğlu despite the party's decision. His resignation was requested by Akşener. However, he was re-elected by the municipal council members. This was clearly a challenge against Akşener. The municipal council members who made this decision were referred to the disciplinary board."
