In a statement on his social media account, Ekrem İmamoğlu claimed that President Erdoğan is responsible for the problems in the Turkish economy.

Drawing attention to the economic collapse, poverty, and income inequality, İmamoğlu argued that these situations are the result of Erdoğan's policies.

In his post, İmamoğlu used the following expressions:

"The person responsible is right beside you; don't look elsewhere. You are looking for excuses for the economic collapse, poverty, high cost of living, and income inequality.

The person responsible is the one who had the national will handcuffed in a dawn raid.

The person responsible is the one who has been talking about 'radishes in the bag,' 'the tail of the calf,' and 'the arms of the octopus' for months.

The person responsible is the one who collected foreign currency reserves by offering 50% interest, only to burn it all in three days for the sake of ambition for a seat."

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu emphasized that Erdoğan's unlawful steps are causing even greater damage to the economy, stating, "You could bring a Nobel-winning economist to lead the economy, but with this mindset, you will not be of the slightest benefit to this nation's troubles."

These statements have once again brought İmamoğlu's criticisms regarding economic policies and the rule of law to the forefront.
