İmamoğlu reacts to minimum wage: 'This nation will pull that seat out from under you'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted sharply to the 22,104 lira minimum wage set for 2025. Criticizing the government's policies and addressing President Erdoğan, İmamoğlu stated, "This nation will pull that office, which belongs to them, and take that seat out from under you," heavily criticizing the current state of the national economy.

"THE GOVERNMENT IS DECEIVING PEOPLE"

İmamoğlu evaluated the minimum wage announcement after inspecting ongoing social projects in Istanbul's Maltepe district. Criticizing the government's economic management, İmamoğlu said, "No one should describe themselves as if they are in a rose garden. No one should deceive our nation."

"INSTEAD OF SHAKING UP MUNICIPALITIES, THEY SHOULD SHAKE UP THEMSELVES"

İmamoğlu offered a more concrete solution regarding the minimum wage. Addressing President Erdoğan, he said, "Instead of shaking up municipalities with the 'decrees' he uses so often, they should shake up themselves." Calling for the use of such a decree to regulate the minimum wage, İmamoğlu suggested, "Make a regulation for 6 months, and then do it again."

"WE ARE EXPERIENCING AN ECONOMIC COLLAPSE"

Stating that Turkey is struggling with serious economic problems, İmamoğlu said, "We are experiencing a massive economic collapse. This situation is also creating a social collapse." Emphasizing that they are prioritizing social projects as the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, İmamoğlu touched upon the importance of the services they provide, especially for women and children.

"WE ARE TRULY IN A DIFFICULT SITUATION"

Finally, İmamoğlu highlighted the poor state of the economy by raising the questions, "Who will pay the rent? Who will pay the electricity bill? Who will cover the school expenses?" He criticized the government by saying, "This situation is not natural; it is a very difficult situation. No one should deceive our nation. The situation is being managed very poorly."

Ekrem İmamoğlu stated that they will continue to produce more social projects for the future of the nation and stand by the citizens.
