İmamoğlu reacts to Üsküdar: 'You have no shame before the nation...'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted on his social media account to the arrest of CHP Council Member Amine Cansu Çelik ahead of the Üsküdar deputy mayoral election.

In his post, İmamoğlu evaluated Çelik's arrest in the context of "a single vote," stating, "Did you throw Amine Cansu Çelik in jail because she showed the conscience, virtue, honesty, and bravery befitting a Turkish woman? You stole her freedom for the sake of one vote, without even thinking about her 3-year-old baby!"

Continuing his reaction with harsh words, İmamoğlu asked, "What kind of oppression is this? Who are you? Where did you come from?" Emphasizing democracy, freedom, and the national will in his post, İmamoğlu said, "Who are you? A person should have some sense of shame. We understood that you have no shame before the nation. Do you have no fear of God left either?"

İmamoğlu also targeted the government in his political assessment regarding Üsküdar. Using the phrases, "For what? Erdoğan wanted Üsküdar... He couldn't accept losing Üsküdar. Is Üsküdar your private property?" İmamoğlu invited the 87 million to "think."

Concluding his post by saying, "The time has come to respond to this self-serving, reckless order!" İmamoğlu finished his message with the words, "Let the people live so that the state may live!"
