Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz accused President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of turning Turkey into a dictatorship. Katz criticized Erdoğan for blocking Instagram, cutting off sports broadcasts, and threatening to invade a democratic country.

Katz also claimed that with this decision, Erdoğan had cut off trade relations, causing 6 billion dollars in annual losses for Turkish exporters, and was dismantling Atatürk's legacy.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz's post about Erdoğan is as follows:

RESPONSE FROM İMAMOĞLU WAS NOT DELAYED

A reaction to Katz's statements came from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

In a post on his social media account, İmamoğlu stated, "I return this statement of yours, which insults the flag and the President of the Republic of Turkey, to you exactly. We are not going to learn about democracy and law from someone who has the blood of tens of thousands of children on their hands."

Here is that post:

'LOOK HERE, YOU MURDEROUS PSYCHOPATH!'

Communications Director Fahrettin Altun also noted the following in a post on his social media account:

"Look here, you murderous psychopath!

As long as you take the name of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan into that dirty mouth of yours with which you suck the blood of the innocent, we will continue to support him more and stand behind him more decisively.

There is not a single thing that our President or our country will learn from bloodthirsty genocidal murderers like you!

The massacres you have committed against our Palestinian brothers and sisters, and this disgraceful genocide you are carrying out, will surely be held to account one day!"
