İmamoğlu's testimony continues: Security measures increased at Çağlayan Courthouse

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu is set to be transferred to the Çağlayan Courthouse to provide testimony regarding serious allegations, including "establishing a criminal organization for profit" and "aiding the PKK/KCK terrorist organization." Within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, İmamoğlu is expected to be brought to the courthouse in the evening hours.

SECURITY MEASURES INCREASED 

Security measures have been increased for İmamoğlu's transfer to the courthouse, taking into account perimeter security and potential protests. Police teams around Çağlayan Square and Abide-i Hürriyet Street have closed off certain points with barriers and deployed water cannon vehicles (TOMA) and riot police units around the courthouse. These measures were taken to ensure security, similar to the days when İmamoğlu was summoned for testimony and when Victory Party (Zafer Partisi) Chairman Ümit Özdağ was detained.

İMAMOĞLU'S TESTIMONY CONTINUES 

İmamoğlu was taken for questioning at the Vatan Police Headquarters as part of a tender investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's "City Consensus" and certain subsidiaries such as "Medya AŞ." The charges leveled against him include "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," "bribery," "rigging tenders," "rigging the performance of an act," "extortion," and "qualified fraud."

İmamoğlu's testimony at the police station regarding the accusations concerning the "City Consensus" is still ongoing.

İMAMOĞLU DENIED THE ACCUSATIONS

In his statement at the police station, İmamoğlu responded to all questions based on secret witness testimonies by saying, "I do not acknowledge this question. I vehemently reject all allegations."

Denying the other accusations as well, İmamoğlu stated, "While Turkey has many national and international issues in need of resolution, the questions asked above have shown that it is deeply saddening that, from the moment I was detained with baseless accusations consisting of setups, fabrications, lies, and conspiracy theories, this has become the agenda of Turkey and the entire world, causing serious damage to our country's reputation and demonstrating that democracy and justice have been undermined."
