CHP presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu made statements regarding the IMM case.
İmamoğlu reacted by saying, "They were afraid of a TV channel, of a live broadcast. They even rejected a TRT live broadcast from the court. To put it more clearly, they were afraid of a single person."
In his statement shared from the Presidential Candidate Office account, İmamoğlu used the following expressions:
4000-page indictment,
826 testimonies,
402 suspects,
105 detainees,
76 slanderers,
9 waves of operations, etc…
We have been under detention for exactly 9 months. The government has been conducting character assassinations for exactly 9 months with 9 TV channels and 9 newspapers.
They violated the rights of the people. They were anxious, but they could not deceive the nation. They were afraid of a TV channel, of a live broadcast. They even rejected a TRT live broadcast from the court.
To put it more clearly, they were afraid of a single person.
My dear nation: They ran away from transparency,
We said, "There is a motion in parliament, we want clean hands, let all politicians and mayors be held accountable in the presence of the nation from top to bottom," and they ran away.
You conspirators, you who have destroyed the presumption of innocence, you will be held accountable before a fair judiciary, in the conscience of the nation, and at the ballot box; you will not be able to escape.
We will not forget, we will not let it be forgotten!
