The third session of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Council's June meetings was held in Saraçhane under the chairmanship of the Council's 2nd Deputy Speaker Gökhan Gümüşdağ. During the meeting, significant decisions were made regarding the reclamation of buildings previously given to foundations.

First, the service protocol regarding secondary and higher education student dormitories, which was signed with the Aziz Mahmut Hüdayi Foundation in 2017, was terminated. In this context, the proposal to reclaim the dormitory buildings allocated to the foundation in Kadıköy and Üsküdar was accepted by majority vote.

DORMITORY OF İLİM YAYMA CEMİYETİ ALSO RECLAIMED

The IMM Council also canceled the protocol signed with the İlim Yayma Cemiyeti in 2017. The decision to reclaim the dormitory building allocated to the society in Eyüpsultan was approved by majority vote, despite objections from the AKP Group.

CULTURAL CENTER ALLOCATION CHANGED

Furthermore, it was decided at the meeting to cancel the allocation of the Tarık Zafer Tunaya Cultural Center to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and to allocate this center to the Beyoğlu Municipality free of charge for a period of 5 years. This decision came to the agenda as part of an insistence decision taken by the IMM Council in 2023.
