IMM responds to 'luxury vehicle' claims! Legal action initiated

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has responded sharply to allegations linking luxury automobiles found in a parking garage at a residence in Beykoz to IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

In a statement issued by the IMM Press Consultancy, it was stated that claims such as "It has been revealed that a criminal organization led by Ekrem İmamoğlu is hiding luxury vehicles in a residence in Beykoz" do not reflect the truth.

The statement expressed that the vehicles in question belong to Murat Kapki, known as a businessperson who has received an award from President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and that these vehicles are located in a garage shared by luxury automobile enthusiasts.

The IMM emphasized that the other vehicles in the footage and the garage itself have no connection to the individuals mentioned in the file, and that claims regarding the seizure of such vehicles are also untrue.

Furthermore, it was stated that Ekrem İmamoğlu has no connection whatsoever to either Murat Kapki or the vehicles in question.

The statement noted that terms such as "money laundering," "tender corruption," and "classic car" were used without concrete evidence, and that this situation constitutes a violation of the presumption of innocence. The IMM stated that necessary legal actions have been initiated against such slanders and that those who mislead the public by distorting the facts will be held accountable before the law.

IMM'S "LIES AND FACTS" STATEMENT

LIE: The lie that “It has been revealed that a criminal organization led by Ekrem İmamoğlu is hiding luxury vehicles in a residence in Beykoz.”

FACT: It is alleged that the luxury vehicles in the shared footage belong to Murat Kapki, known as a businessperson who has received an award from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. It is known that the garage where these vehicles are located is an area used collectively by luxury automobile enthusiasts. The other vehicles in the footage and the garage in question have no connection to the individuals mentioned in the file. The claim that such vehicles have been seized on the grounds that they belong to the individuals mentioned in the file does not reflect the truth. Under these circumstances, the presentation of this footage by some media outlets by associating it with Ekrem İmamoğlu is an ugly perception operation. IMM Mayor and Presidential Candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu has not the slightest connection to either Murat Kapki or the vehicles in question. This so-called news report is a fabrication from start to finish. There is no finalized court ruling regarding Ekrem İmamoğlu concerning the leadership of any criminal organization. Public opinion is being manipulated with the label of “criminal organization” based on an investigation for which an indictment has not even been accepted yet. The vehicles mentioned in the news have no connection to the IMM or its subsidiaries. Terms such as “money laundering,” “tender corruption,” and “classic car” have been used without any concrete evidence, and this situation clearly constitutes a violation of the presumption of innocence. The language of the news reflects an approach that seeks execution without waiting for the legal process. Necessary legal actions have been initiated against all these slanders, and those who mislead the public by distorting the facts will be held accountable before the law.
