Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polatmade a noteworthy post on his social media account.

Using the phrase "Political careerism is poison," Polat stated, "Those who fall into the trap of careerism turn their backs on the troubles of the country and society, forgetting the chaos the country is in to focus on their own agendas" he said.

In the continuation of his post, Polat wrote the following: "There is no place for careerism in left-wing politics; one becomes a companion in hardship, a foot soldier, and a servant to the people to fill the gaps. The public is not waging the struggle they are in during these difficult days for someone else's career plan."

SPARKED DEBATE ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Meanwhile, Polat's post, which did not name anyone, sparked a debate on social media. Many people claimed that Polat was referring to Sinem Dedetaş.

WHAT DID SINEM DEDETAŞ SAY?

While attending an event in Paris during the 2024 Summer Olympic Games, where IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and CHP Chairman Özgür Özel were also present, Üsküdar Mayor Sinem Dedetaş made notable remarks to Habertürk columnist Oray Eğin. When asked, "Are you ready to govern Istanbul?" she replied, "Yes." To the follow-up question, "Are you ready to be the Mayor of Istanbul in a year and a half?" Dedetaş responded, "I am quite ready."
