Following the election of the council presidency held at the North Ankara Congress and Culture Center, the incumbent Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu was nominated again through a motion.
Yapıcıoğlu, who entered the congress as the sole candidate, thanked the party members and guests who attended.
Yapıcıoğlu stated that they have been striving since day one for Turkey to have a new constitution and that they support positive efforts in this regard.
Noting that they value the efforts of AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş regarding a new constitution, Yapıcıoğlu added that they have also put forward their own views.
Yapıcıoğlu continued his remarks as follows:
"Let us write our own constitution ourselves, let us write our own constitution for the needs of our own nation. Above all, let that constitution be our constitution. Let it be a reflection of our faith, our needs, our concerns, our demands, and our goals. Let us find ourselves in it, not the influences of the outside. Let it be a civil, fair, and inclusive constitution that embraces the entire country."
Yapıcıoğlu stated that the Kurdish issue is directly related to the constitutional issue, arguing that the Kurdish issue has deepened as constitutions have changed in Turkey.
Stating that the resolution of the Kurdish issue would grow and strengthen Turkey, Yapıcıoğlu said, "We view the right to education in the mother tongue as a fundamental right and believe that all obstacles to education in the mother tongue must be removed."
"WE WELCOMED THE 'TURKEY CENTURY EDUCATION MODEL'"
Yapıcıoğlu said that they welcomed the "Turkey Century Education Model" but that the essential factor is its implementation.
Wishing for the congress to be beneficial for the nation, the country, and his party, Yapıcıoğlu wished success to the newly elected administration and thanked those who are handing over their duties for their services.
Following Yapıcıoğlu's speech, the elections commenced.
Receiving 640 votes from the 641 delegates who participated in the voting, Yapıcıoğlu was re-elected as the Chairman of HÜDAPAR. One vote was deemed invalid.
The congress was also attended by AKP Deputy Chairman Mustafa Elitaş, New Welfare Party Deputy Chairman Doğan Bekin, AKP Kırşehir Deputy Necmettin Erkan, DEVA Party Istanbul Deputy Hasan Karal, and representatives of various political parties.
