Indictment prepared: MHP and Ülkü Ocakları officials to stand trial for torture and kidnapping

An indictment has been prepared against 15 people, including MHP Burdur Provincial Chair Mustafa Gün, MHP Provincial General Assembly Member Abdullah Aksoy, and Ülkü Ocakları Provincial Chair Emre Ünlü, following allegations that former Ülkü Ocakları official Samet Ali Irmak was kidnapped and subjected to torture.

According to a report by T24, the prosecutor's office, which launched an investigation upon receiving a complaint, has requested that the suspects be tried for the crime of "depriving a person of their liberty using force, threats, or deception in concert with more than one person", with a potential prison sentence of up to 14 years.

The indictment states that Mustafa Gün injured Irmak by kicking, punching, and slapping him, that some suspects held Irmak by the arm to prevent him from escaping, and that one person poured water over Irmak's head.

The indictment also includes conversations among the suspects, such as, "Surprising, for the first time the chairman let someone go without touching them; I swear, I am truly amazed. Chairman, we have taken so many people, I have never seen him leave anyone unharmed." Although the suspects denied the accusations, the indictment states that medical reports and camera footage confirm Irmak's claims and that there is sufficient evidence to open a public case against the suspects.

SUSPECTS: WE DID NOT USE FORCE, WE GAVE ADVICE

According to the statements in the indictment, the suspects claimed that they did not take Irmak by force, that Irmak came of his own free will, that they did not subject Irmak to any battery or force, and that they only offered him advice. Some of the suspects also claimed that they did not know some of the other suspects.

The prosecutor's office stated that, despite the suspects' testimonies, Irmak's allegations are substantiated by medical reports and camera footage, and that the suspects were complicit in the forced detention of Irmak.

PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE REQUESTS PUNISHMENT

The prosecutor's office, citing sufficient suspicion and evidence, has requested that the 15 suspects be tried for the "crime of depriving a person of their liberty using force, threats, or deception in concert with more than one person", with a request for up to 14 years in prison. The indictment has been sent to the Gölhisar Criminal Court of First Instance.
