As the CHP counts down to its congress, the number of signatures collected by Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and leadership candidate Özgür Özel has been revealed.

The Republican People's Party (CHP) is preparing to hold its 38th Ordinary Congress on November 4-5. The congress, which will begin tomorrow under the slogan "Democracy and Unity Congress in the Second Century," will be chaired by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu as the Divan Chairman.

The first day of the congress will feature the election for the party chairmanship, while the second day will focus on the elections for the Party Assembly (PM) and the High Disciplinary Board (YDK).

1368 DELEGATES WILL VOTE

According to a report in BirGün, 1,368 congress delegates will determine the new chairman and the members of the Party Assembly. To be a candidate for the CHP chairmanship, 65 signatures are required, while 10 signatures are needed to run for the Party Assembly.

WILL KILIÇDAROĞLU SAY 'FOR THE LAST TIME'?

It is reported that CHP Leader Kılıçdaroğlu, who is said to be neck-and-neck with the change-oriented faction regarding delegate support, is preparing for his speech on the day of the congress. Accordingly, it is noted that Kılıçdaroğlu might say in his final speech before the voting, "I am a candidate for the chairmanship for the last time, and I will not be here at the next congress."

CHP Deputy Chairman Zeynel Emre stated in a broadcast he attended the other evening, "Our Chairman will likely ask for authorization from the congress delegates for the last time at the congress."

ÖZEL HAS 600, KILIÇDAROĞLU AT LEAST 700 SIGNATURES

According to information obtained, Kılıçdaroğlu aims to announce his candidacy by making a show of strength with the signatures of at least 700-800 delegates. It is stated that Parliamentary Group Chairman Özgür Özel has secured the signatures of nearly 600 delegates.

NOTABLE BANNER: WE ARE AWARE OF THE GAME

On the other hand, a banner with the words "We are aware of the game, we stand by our leader" was seen hanging in the congress hall. It was learned that after the banner was hung, CHP Leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu gave instructions to CHP Elâzığ Deputy Gürsel Erol, on behalf of the Congress Preparatory Committee, to have the banner removed.

Following Kılıçdaroğlu's instructions, the banner in question was removed under the supervision of Gürsel Erol.

It was stated that no banner that has not been approved by the Congress Preparatory Committee will be allowed in the hall.
