Alongside Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, Hatay is among the cities most closely watched in the local elections.
CHP DID NOT GIVE UP ON LÜTFÜ SAVAŞ
While the CHP nominated the incumbent mayor Lütfü Savaş again despite public backlash, the AKP's candidate is Mehmet Öntürk. İYİ Party will enter the race with Nusret Cömert, and the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) with Gökhan Zan.
BAD NEWS FOR CHP FROM HATAY POLL
Most recently, Ada Araştırma shared the results of the election poll it conducted in Hatay. According to the results, the CHP is losing Hatay, which it won with 55 percent in 2019.
In the poll conducted by Ada Araştırma with 1,500 people between March 1-5, participants were asked, "If there were a local election this Sunday, which candidate would you vote for in the Hatay Metropolitan Municipality mayoral race?"
AKP candidate Mehmet Öntürk came in first with 48.4 percent, showing a 16-point lead over Lütfü Savaş.
The candidates' vote shares in the poll are as follows;
- Mehmet Öntürk: 48.4%
- Lütfü Savaş: 32.1%
- Gökhan Zan: 7.4%
- Nusret Cömert: 4.9%
