Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made statements at an iftar program he attended in Büyükçekmece.

Stating that all political parties have been conducting their election campaigns in an environment of peace and security regarding the March 31 Local Administration Elections since January 1, Yerlikaya said, "The management, supervision, and decision-making belong to the Supreme Election Council, and the provincial and district election boards, but I am the one responsible for the environment of peace and security. Together with my fellow travelers and comrades, I come before you to explain our loyalty and the realization of the service we believe in. Some are uncomfortable with this. With God's permission, we will continue to make them uncomfortable. But just as we held the last election of the century on May 14 and 28 in an environment of peace and security without compromise, we have full faith that, as the Ministry of Interior, we will provide this peace and security in the best way possible throughout the entire election period with our 600 thousand colleagues," he said.

In the remainder of his speech, Yerlikaya also asked for votes for the People's Alliance's Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) mayoral candidate Murat Kurum. Arguing that municipalities should also contribute to the city's peace, Yerlikaya said, "In Istanbul, with our brother Murat Kurum, you will see what has not been there in these 5 years but should be. With a spirit of unity, solidarity, and brotherhood, everything will reach the desired state. We believe in this."
