Following calls for an extraordinary congress and criticisms from some members of parliament within the CHP, 81 provincial chairs issued a joint statement sending a message of unity within the party. Stating that they trust CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, the provincial chairs declared, "We will not give credence to efforts to create artificial agendas for personal gain." Özel had previously called on those who "value his word" within the CHP to refrain from engaging in these debates.

'IF THERE IS CHP, THERE IS A SOLUTION'

The statement said, "The CHP, Atatürk's party, became the leading party 47 years later on March 31, 2024, with the great support of our people. It won 413 mayoralties, and this number continues to rise. The CHP won, the Turkey Alliance won." Noting that polls conducted after the election show the CHP maintaining its position as the leading party, the statement added, "We have been the leading party for eight months; the slogan 'If there is CHP, there is a solution' represents hope."

'TURKEY IS EXPERIENCING ONE OF THE GRAVEST CRISES IN ITS HISTORY'

The CHP provincial chairs emphasized that Turkey is facing serious economic and political crises. The statement highlighted the crises the country is in, saying, "The fundamental problems of the people, such as wages below the hunger threshold, poverty, unemployment, and the growing refugee issue, are waiting for solutions. As a result of the government's failed policies, babies, children, women, and stray animals cannot be protected."

'OUR MUNICIPALITIES ARE GAINING TRUST'

Stating that CHP-run municipalities are increasing their social support efforts against problems left unresolved by the government, the statement said, "Our municipalities are implementing examples of the CHP's governance projects. During this process, the unjust government has launched a smear campaign against our mayors. The appointment of a trustee to Esenyurt and the pressure on the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) have increased." It was emphasized that the CHP will respond to these attacks in the strongest possible way.

The CHP provincial chairs stated that they aim to march toward power by increasing the party's vote share to the 51 percent level. The statement included the remark, "From members to provincial chairs, all CHP cadres will continue to work 24 hours a day. We will continue our organized struggle side-by-side with every segment of society."

EARLY ELECTION IS NOW INEVITABLE

The provincial chairs stated that the public now wants an early election, saying, "We will not stop pursuing the demand for an election until the ballot box is placed before the people." The statement emphasized intra-party democracy, noting that every member can express their demands within the party.

'WE TRUST ÖZGÜR ÖZEL'

At the end of the statement, the following words were used: "While the footsteps of a CHP government are being heard in 81 provinces and 973 districts, we declare that a call for an extraordinary congress is not on our agenda and that we trust our Chairman Özgür Özel. We invite all party members to work in unity for a CHP government."
