Investigation launched against students at Yıldız Technical University for reading 'Atatürk's Address to the Youth'

Yıldız Technical University has launched an investigation into students who gathered at the Davutpaşa campus to read Atatürk's Address to the Youth.

The students had gathered in front of a coffee chain that was being boycotted to protest the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

During this event, free food and beverages were also distributed.

In the document sent to the students, the university administration stated, "The group of students, who did not take into account the warnings and cautions given to them, read Atatürk's Address to the Youth and provided free food and beverage refreshments accompanied by music and entertainment."

This development has drawn significant backlash on social media. While it was noted that a large number of investigations have been opened against students, this situation was evaluated as an example of the increasing pressure on young people.

The protests initiated by young people against the arrest of İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu became a target of the judiciary, which has been politicized by the government, and many young people were arrested.
