While this oath has reignited debates regarding the place of politics in military institutions, another notable development took place at the Konya 3rd Main Jet Base.
Konya 3rd Main Jet Base Commander Major General Mete Kuş prepared a special video message for President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the occasion of the August 30 Victory Day.
In the video, Major General Kuş, with the base's aircraft, helicopters, and soldiers lined up behind him, said to President Erdoğan, "We present our respects." Following this, F-16 fighter jets performed a demonstration flight.
In his speech addressed to President Erdoğan, Major General Mete Kuş stated, "As the fearless eagles of the boundless skies, our work continues day and night. I celebrate the August 30 Victory Day of your Excellency and the Turkish nation."
At the end of the video, the base's F-16 fighter jets performed a demonstration flight.
'THIS IS OUR METE'
President Erdoğan had previously shown affection for Mete Kuş by saying, "This is our Mete," and had hosted Kuş at the palace. Mete Kuş was promoted by the decisions of the Supreme Military Council and was appointed from Merzifon to the Konya 3rd Main Jet Base Command.
