AKP AND MHP MEMBERS ALSO VOTED FOR YAVAŞ

The resulting figures revealed that AKP and MHP members also cast their votes for Mansur Yavaş.

THEY HAD ALSO VOTED FOR İMAMOĞLU IN THE TBB ELECTIONS

In the election for the presidency of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (TBB), CHP candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu competed against AKP candidate and Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç.

In the election held on June 5, İmamoğlu was elected TBB President with 515 votes, while the AKP candidate Genç received 250 votes.

While the CHP had 448 delegates in the TBB, it emerged that some AKP mayors had also voted for İmamoğlu.

ERDOĞAN HAD GIVEN ORDERS

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, following the emergence of these results, met with his party's head of local governments, Yusuf Ziya Yılmaz, and gave instructions to identify the individuals in question. Erdoğan had demanded that Yılmaz resign if the names could not be identified.

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL HAD REACTED

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacted to Erdoğan over the investigation launched within the AKP, stating: "Our inclusive approach was adopted by a portion of the People's Alliance. They put forward their own candidates and lost, but now an investigation has been opened within the party because many AK Party mayors voted for us. Because we are fair, we are sharing."
