Investigation permit for Mansur Yavaş regarding Ankapark allegations... 'They are in a state of panic'

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, while launching an investigation into alleged public losses in concert organizations held by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality between 2021 and 2024, has also begun reviewing the Ankapark file. The Prosecutor's Office has requested an investigation permit from the Ministry of Interior regarding the accusation of "misconduct in office" against Mansur Yavaş.

The grounds for the Prosecutor's Office's request were stated as the closure of Ankapark during the Yavaş administration, leaving it unprotected, and the theft of materials from within. Furthermore, it was alleged that Yavaş turned a blind eye to the claims and remained silent regarding the damage caused to public property.

The complaint petition submitted to the Prosecutor's Office included the following statements:

"Ankapark was closed during the Mansur Yavaş administration and has not yet been reopened. The municipality has argued that it does not have supervisory authority over the use of the park. However, in the contract signed between the municipality and the tenant, all supervisory authority belongs to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. The park has been destroyed for 6 years and the materials inside have been stolen. The total value of the stolen materials exceeds 3 billion TL. Mansur Yavaş announced the theft allegations occurring at the park to the public, but did not grant filming permission to the press or municipal media outlets. If theft has truly occurred, the administration has turned a blind eye to it."

YAVAŞ'S RESPONSE TO THE ALLEGATIONS

Responding to these allegations, Mansur Yavaş stated in his explanation on the matter, "There is no such thing. Previously, it was complained that the materials there had rotted and gone missing. The inspector came in April, conducted their investigations, and left. Nothing has happened from that day to this. There is no possibility of it happening either."

Recalling previous complaints regarding Ankapark, Yavaş said, "We already did not have the authority to enter there. However, there was a complaint we filed against Melih Gökçek. The Council of State ruled 3 to 2 that those responsible there, excluding Gökçek, should be tried. The Council of State's decision says, 'Each procurement tender needs to be examined.' Despite this, the prosecutor's office issued a decision of non-prosecution. I explained this at the press conference."

"THEY ARE IN A STATE OF PANIC"

Regarding the recent increase in criticism, Yavaş made the following statement:

"They are in a state of panic in recent days. Other than that, there is no situation that has reached us. But I don't know what they are thinking in their own minds. They will see the reason for the panic soon, I will say that much. They know what is coming for them." Yavaş stated that the responsibility for Ankapark belongs to Melih Gökçek and added, "The company that does the work for Ankapark (Binko İnşaat) is also building Osman Gökçek's house."
