Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi commented on the aftermath of the İYİ Party's poor performance in the March 31 Local Elections, the announcement by Chair Meral Akşener that she would not run in the Extraordinary Elective Congress, and the subsequent declarations of candidacy by four individuals.

“The İYİ Party is heading to the congress in an atmosphere of chaos. One of the formulas being discussed within the İYİ Party is the 'Brother Cihan' formula. Cihan Paçacı is one of the wise figures of the İYİ Party. He and Meral Akşener engaged in politics together in the DYP and the MHP. They had a 'brother-sister' relationship. However, Akşener did not listen to Cihan Paçacı in recent times. She began making political mistakes. The point reached today is clear.

"THE BROTHER CIHAN FORMULA"

There will be a fierce race for the chairmanship in the İYİ Party. If one side wins, there is a high probability that the other side will break away from the party. This happened in the past in the DYP and the ANAP. Those close to Demirel left the DYP and founded the DTP. When Mesut Yılmaz won in the ANAP, the conservatives close to Özal broke away from the party. Cihan Paçacı has no such demand. However, because the party is heading to the congress in an atmosphere of chaos, a group advocates for the 'Brother Cihan' formula to be implemented during the transition period, so that the party does not split after the congress. Furthermore, Cihan Paçacı would protect Meral Akşener’s legal interests. They believe the party should go to a congress to elect its new chair once it has achieved stability.”
