Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın has issued a clear statement regarding the claims that have recently surfaced in political circles that he would "resign from the CHP and join the AKP." The address for this week's "The Nation Protects Its Will" rally, which was launched in response to the operations initiated against CHP mayors, was Balıkesir. It was noted that citizens of Balıkesir arrived at the rally area from the early hours of the morning, filling the square.

The purpose of the meeting was to demonstrate the public's will against the arrest of certain CHP mayors, primarily Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu. The crowd, gathered from all corners of the city, sent messages of support to the CHP.

Taking the stage at the rally, Mayor Ahmet Akın responded to the allegations regarding his change of party, stating, "As a soldier of Gazi Mustafa Kemal, I am working with all my might for two things: to be worthy of the Republic, and to fight to carry the ideas of the Republican People's Party, which believes in Atatürk's ideals, to power and to serve locally with the same principles."
