It was claimed he would make a statement in favor of Kurum: Özgür Özel's 'Selahattin Demirtaş' statement! 'If such a statement comes...'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel made statements regarding the local elections on Halk TV.

Emphasizing that his party is entering these elections alone, Özel stated, "In the last local election, there was unconditional support from the HDP, aimed at making the AK Party lose. If I say 'We achieved everything on our own' on top of this, I would be wrong. We are calling for a Turkey alliance."

Stressing that there is no environment for alliances or dialogue, Özel assessed, "There will not be an agreement between parties, but there will be a conscience alliance of voters at the ballot box. In other words, a voter might say, 'Instead of the AK Party winning right before our eyes, I see who has the advantage here, I will do the right thing.'"

SELAHATTİN DEMİRTAŞ STATEMENT

Regarding the claim that former HDP Co-Chairman Selahattin Demirtaş, who is imprisoned in Edirne, would make a statement before the election in favor of the AKP and MHP's Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) mayoral candidate Murat Kurum, Özel said:

"Frankly, I do not expect Mr. Demirtaş to make a move regarding the election by issuing a statement from Edirne Prison concerning the Istanbul elections. However, I read and watch every assessment he makes by taking it extremely seriously and into consideration. If such a statement comes, we will make our own statement accordingly. But the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality is the municipality of the great Istanbul alliance from the previous election, and it is the municipality of our alliance partners, including CHP members, IYI Party members, and Saadet Party members.

It is the municipality of those who have given their hearts to Ekrem Bey now, even if they voted for the AKP or MHP in the last election, because it does not push anyone away. It is as much the municipality of the Kurds as it is of the Turks. It is as much the municipality of the people from the Aegean as it is of the people from the Black Sea. The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality is a complete alliance. I believe that this alliance is satisfied with one another and that it is a very important unity for the future of Turkey. This is an issue that has turned into a union of hearts that transcends politics. That is why, frankly, I do not expect such a statement from someone like Selahattin Bey, who also reads politics from the right places."
