IYI Party leader Meral Akşener has referred Sakarya MP Ümit Dikbayır to the disciplinary board with a request for permanent expulsion, following allegations that he “illegally had the accounts of herself, her family, and her chief of staff examined.”

"I AM A FOUNDER OF THIS PARTY"

Dikbayır, who was rumored to be resigning following the expulsion request, stated in a live broadcast he participated in yesterday (November 20), “Resignation is not on the agenda. I am a founder of this party, and I have put in a great deal of effort.”

Connecting to the Taksim Meydanı program on Tv100 by phone, Dikbayır said, “I will come to the broadcast on Thursday evening and explain all the details one by one. For about a month and a half, there has been a terrible conspiracy of slander and gossip against me. I have been patient for a month and a half. Why am I being patient? Millions of people voted for the IYI Party and pinned their hopes on it. People from our local organizations worked in the field. I was being patient so that the efforts of all these friends would not be in vain. Now the situation has reached a point where it has become a duty for me to explain what happened. I will explain what happened on Thursday evening. There is a lot of dirty information circulating. I am currently managing a process. I do not accept any of the slanders thrown at me. There is not a single question I cannot answer. I am managing this process so that these slanders and conspiracies do not stick to me. I will submit a petition to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Parliamentary Bureau. I will request that my legislative immunity be lifted. I will complete this process and come to explain. Our citizens need to know everything. Resignation is not on the agenda. I am a founder of this party; I have put in the work. Now they are coming out and making decent and indecent statements. Mr. Kürşad came out and said ‘political counterfeiters.’ I will respond to all of them one by one. I will respond to Bilgehan Yılmaz, who said ‘rotten apples.’ I will respond to the party leader.”

NEW STATEMENT FROM DIKBAYIR: I WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT

On Sözcü TV, Can Coşkun also reported that Dikbayır told journalist İpek Özbey, “I changed my mind. I saw that if I resign, it will be blamed on me, so I will continue to fight until the end.”

On the other hand, after journalist İsmail Saymaz announced that a ‘harassment’ accusation was included in the grounds for Dikbayır’s referral to the disciplinary board, Dikbayır’s wife, Nigar Dikbayır, had made a post on her social media account. Nigar Dikbayır wrote alongside a family photo, “Have you fallen this low from the lie about checking accounts? Until yesterday, you entrusted your honor to us. Today, you have turned into character assassins. The father of my daughters, my life partner, is as honorable as you cannot understand. Both his children and his wife vouch for him.”
