İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener has denied claims that she said she would 'leave'.
It had been alleged that after some GİK members in the İYİ Party expressed their concerns regarding the election, Akşener took the floor and said, "I take full responsibility if our votes drop; if we fall below the vote share we received on May 14, I will resign."
The İYİ Party Media Relations Presidency stated that İYİ Party Chairperson Meral Akşener did not make any statement such as, "If we stay below our May 14 vote share, I am out, I will leave."
"UNTRUE"
The written statement issued by the İYİ Party Media Relations Presidency said the following:
"Some news websites have featured claims that during our General Administrative Board meeting on January 8, our Chairperson Ms. Meral Akşener used the expression, 'If we stay below our May 14 vote share, I am out, I will leave.' This claim is untrue, and our Chairperson has absolutely not made such a statement. Furthermore, apart from her principled stance that the responsibility for the election belongs to her, as she has previously expressed openly to the public during various provincial visits, these claims are being used as a new tool of manipulation against our party. We would like to remind the public to be sensitive toward these untrue claims in order to be correctly informed."
