The wind of resignations that has been blowing in the İYİ Party for some time continues unabated.
Yesterday, the resignation of Ankara MP Adnan Beker turned eyes toward other prominent figures in the party.
Speaking to 12punto, Ümit Dikbayır had said regarding the resignation rumors, "Not right now. You know that I have a petition. I am following that process."
Finally, Antalya MP Uğur Poyraz, one of the party's critical figures, answered 12punto's questions.
"MY ANSWER IS JUST THIS"
It is alleged that there is a "coldness between you and İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener, that you are having some problems with your party, and that you will resign for this reason." Is this true?
‘’I am the İYİ Party, I am not a member of the İYİ Party. My answer is just this.
"IT IS NOT MY PLACE"
Following Nebi Hatipoğlu, Adnan Beker also resigned from the İYİ Party. What is happening in your party, are you expecting other resignations?
I cannot read people's intentions. It is not possible for me to read the intentions of either Adnan Beker or Nebi Hatipoğlu. However, one of the most important points that our Chair has taught us as a mentor, the political culture she has created for us, is the saying ‘resignation is a unilateral declaration of will.’
Therefore, I served as Secretary General for over four years under our Chair. Thus, I worked in close cooperation. I have never heard a single word or statement from Meral Akşener regarding someone who has resigned to this day.
Therefore, since I take her attitude in this sense as a role model, resignation is a unilateral declaration of will. Other than that, it is not my place, both as a politician and as a private citizen, to read anyone's intentions. Reading intentions is not a method I prefer.
THE INFECTION OF TURKISH POLITICS
Do you think your party's decision to enter the elections with its own candidates in 81 provinces is correct?
This is the decision of our General Administrative Board. The General Administrative Board is the most authorized body of a party. Every decision taken by our General Administrative Board is a situation that binds all organs and all members of our party at every level.
The area where this will be discussed is again the authorized bodies of our party. I see expressing this in front of the public or in other areas as an infection in Turkish politics.
The foundation of Turkish politics is built upon political parties. These are discussed passionately in the authorized bodies of political parties. In the end, a decision is made.’’
