İYİ Party chairmanship candidate Koray Aydın's statement on the Congress: Emphasis on early elections and 2028
Following the decision of İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener to take her party to a Congress and her announcement that she will not be a candidate after the party fell below expectations in the March 31 local elections, Koray Aydın, who has announced his candidacy for the chairmanship, made evaluations regarding the Congress.

The İYİ Party, which received 3.77 percent of the vote in the March 31 local elections and won the election in only one of the 81 provinces, Nevşehir, is heading to a Congress.
Aydın, who announced his candidacy after Akşener stated she would not run, expressed that he is confident. Speaking to Orhan Uğuroğlu from the Yeniçağ newspaper, Aydın made the following statements:

Thank you very much. I am receiving very positive support from the İYİ Party organizations and voters.
How do you see your chances of being elected Chair?
I am receiving very good support from the good people of the İYİ Party. Although the time is very short, our decision to hold a convention has created great excitement. I am in contact with the İYİ Party organizations and delegates day and night. There is an excitement for change in the party. The result obtained in the local elections saddened us all, but it is behind us. We must now look to the future. Our goal is to carry the İYİ Party to power. Our party members also believe that we will achieve this and are showing me great favor. Our convention will be a festival of democracy, and I believe that I will win the chairmanship race by a wide margin.
As a politician of 48 years, what is your goal if you win the chairmanship race on April 27, 2024?
Our goal is to carry the İYİ Party to power. For this, we will embrace every segment of society. We will produce solutions to Turkey's problems. We will appear before the voters with reform-oriented preparations that will improve the living conditions our people are experiencing and do not deserve. The cadres of the İYİ Party are ready for this change and for power. Let the local election results not deceive anyone or lead to despair. The İYİ Party is ready for a possible early election or the election to be held in 2028. We will leave behind resentments and grievances, and by targeting our founding principles, we will carry the İYİ Party to power alone; Turkey will win.
