Entering the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) with 43 deputies in the May 14 General Elections, the İYİ Party has lost exactly 13 deputies in the 16 months that have passed.
The most recent deputies to resign from the İYİ Party were Kayseri Deputy Dursun Ataş and İzmir Deputy Ümit Özlale.
While Ataş announced his resignation in a written statement, calling it 'necessary and inevitable' without specifying a reason, Özlale merely stated, "As of today, I respectfully announce to the public that I have resigned from my duties in my party and from the party itself."
According to a report by Gazete Duvar, party members stated that while resignations before and after the party congress might have been understandable, they cannot make sense of the current departures, noting: “If there is no justification or explanation, then there are only personal reasons and certain interest-based calculations here. In this situation, we view these resignations as a purification.”
It is noted that the İYİ Party will begin more intensive field work after October 1, when the Parliament resumes its legislative activities, and that the roadmap for the new term will be shared with the public at a major ceremony on October 25, the party's founding anniversary.
