İYİ Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu made statements at his party's group meeting.
Highlights from Dervişoğlu's remarks are as follows:
THIS WAS A DISASTER IN THE MAKING
Look, the picture is clear. The downward trend in the economy is reaching an unstoppable point. As of the end of 2024, the number of people unable to pay their personal loan and credit card debts has reached roughly 5 million. If we include their families, more than 20 million of our people are trapped in a credit card debt quagmire.
The number of people facing legal proceedings solely due to credit card debt has doubled compared to the previous year, 2023, and is approaching 1.5 million. Due to personal loan debt,
it has reached 1 million 200 thousand people. What is deemed appropriate for our citizens is this: The citizen will struggle in a spiral of credit card and loan debt, will try to survive, and this palace minority will remain in prosperity. The duty that falls upon our citizens is this: To say goodbye to this government! If we cannot do this collectively, we will be pronouncing figures twice as high as these. This is a disaster in the making. Just like an earthquake, it is coming while screaming.
THEY ARE ADDICTED TO STATE OF EMERGENCY
After the State Supervisory Council Law they passed last week, that is, the regulation where they generalized the power of appointing trustees, now they are enacting a new tyranny law under the name of the Cybersecurity law,
The proposed law grants extraordinary powers to the Cybersecurity Board Presidency, which is affiliated with the President. They want to take another step forward to create a government with extraordinary powers in a state of normalized, permanent exception. With the proposed law, just as in other legal regulations, the judiciary is once again being sidelined,
They want to handle things from the Palace with a single click. Because they are addicted to the State of Emergency (OHAL).
THEY WANT TO BRING THE STATE OF EMERGENCY REGIME INTO YOUR FAMILY MESSAGING GROUPS
Erdoğan and his cronies want to bring the State of Emergency and tyranny regime, which they want to continue forever, into your child's computer at home and your family messaging groups. Rest assured, you are all potential criminals, potential terrorists, potential detainees. It makes no difference whether you are a mayor, party chairman, journalist, teacher, lawyer, businessman, artist, or intellectual. You could find yourselves in prisons at any moment for the sake of their order of fear. Those who cannot protect our country's population and citizenship data, identity, property, bank information, the lineage of citizens, medical tests, and disease history on e-Devlet, and who hand them over to criminal gangs and fraudsters around the world, are going to protect the internet and other digital platforms with this law they call cybersecurity, right? I cannot laugh at this laughable excuse because the situation is very dire and their intentions are very diabolical.
ERDOĞAN PLANS TO BE ELECTED UNTIL HE DIES
I am also addressing those who lean on the hope of creating a demand for early elections by voicing the citizens' justified desire for one today. Erdoğan is planning step-by-step to be elected again, to be elected until he dies. There is nothing he fears. He recognizes no rules, constitution, or law. He is not ashamed before the nation, nor does he fear God. I address those who are preparing to silently wave goodbye from behind while these people 'take the horse and cross Üsküdar' (a Turkish idiom for pulling a fast one), as you have done in the past, in the face of a dictatorship that has so much to lose and cannot breathe for a second without power: Hope cannot be kept alive naively. If things continue this way and the opposition does not come to its senses, the upcoming election process will not be one where the national will is manifested under the normal conditions of a democratic country.
