İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener, who decided to enter the local elections 'freely and independently', spoke at her party's local election manifesto and mayoral candidate introduction meeting at the ATO Congress Center.
Criticizing the AKP government and the CHP, Akşener said, "They cannot succeed in coming between us and our nation with insults, lies, and slanders. They cannot suppress the good and brave children of Turkey with their censorship and operations. We are not like those who pit our nation against each other for the sake of votes. We are not like those who violate the rights of the nation for the sake of votes. We do not pursue reconciliation with enemies of the Republic for the sake of votes. We do not keep company with those who betray our nation. We do not walk arm in arm with those who curse Atatürk."
Akşener continued her remarks as follows;
"Turkish politics today is caught in a whirlpool where those who appear to be opposites are actually reflections of each other. It continues in a petty squabble where those who trade barbs stay afloat thanks to one another. It is trapped in a seesaw order where those who are enemies owe their existence to each other."
"WE SAY NO TO THE ALLIANCE ORDER"
Criticizing the presidential government system and the alliance system, Akşener said, "A political plane without a nation, which they call an alliance system, has taken our country hostage. This freak system has also made politics freakish. In this system, politics has begun to shackle the will of the nation. This system has paved the way for those who exploit the hard-earned votes of the nation. In this plane created by the Presidential Government System, the government and the main opposition are sitting at the same table, looking to feast on Turkey's years. If we said no to this freak system as the İYİ Party, we say no to it today as well," she said.
Stating "We say no to both the alliance order and the politics of imposition," Akşener added, "We promise a free and independent policy. We are disturbing those who enjoy the comfort of polarization. We are disturbing those who turn the job into a census between camps. We are disturbing those who want the unbearable lightness of their irresponsibility to continue. We are pleased with the discomfort we have caused."
Highlights from Akşener's speech are as follows;
"YOU ARE NOT OBLIGED"
"We will bring politics together with the troubles of the nation. You are not obliged to those who reach into our table, darken our future, and exploit our spirituality. You are not obliged to those who tarnish Atatürk's legacy and degenerate our Republic.
We made a promise to our nation when we set out on this path. We promised to be the voice of those whose voices are not heard. We promised not to be 'silent devils' and not to let our nation's rights be violated. We promised to tear down all oppressions and to be the guardians of freedom.
"THE FIRST FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEM IS POVERTY"
I will explain how we will offer solutions to the 4 fundamental problems our nation is experiencing. The first fundamental problem is poverty. Today, our nation is facing a growing spiral of poverty. As the İYİ Party, we are putting young people, women, children, and retirees at the center of the fight against poverty in our cities. We will provide dormitory facilities. To ensure no young person worries about their KYK debt, we will pay the debts of young people who participate in social responsibility projects. We will provide free meals in the mornings and afternoons at schools in the municipalities we manage. We will procure these through women entrepreneurs. We will stand by women in every matter with women's support centers. We will provide income support for our retirees.
"WE WILL BRING STANDARDS TO SIGNAGE"
Turkey is now a haven for asylum seekers. We are facing an invasion of illegal migrants and asylum seekers. We will take the first step in municipalities to implement our National Migration Doctrine. We will introduce signage standards in municipalities. We will both protect urban aesthetics and prevent the hanging of foreign signs.
We will not apologize for protecting our urban fabric and demographics. As the İYİ Party, we will never allow illegal migrants and asylum seekers to form ghettos and establish miniature Syrias where they serve each other with their businesses.
In the municipalities we manage, we will create new zoning plans and implement them immediately. We will initiate urban transformation projects in illegal migrant and asylum seeker ghettos.
"WE WILL MAKE CITIES RESILIENT TO EARTHQUAKES"
Earthquakes are a reality of our country. We are forced to live under great risk. Experts are warning about an Istanbul earthquake. A disaster in Istanbul would destroy Turkey and the Turkish economy. Despite the seriousness of the situation, we are facing the reality of how unprepared we are left against earthquakes because the administrators play the 'three monkeys' instead of taking precautions and taking action.
With that great pain we experienced last year still so fresh, the issue of earthquakes is not being taken seriously. The third problem will be the lack of seriousness, incompetence, and negligence in the face of the earthquake danger. We will build safe cities. We will make our cities resilient with their physical and social structures. We will increase building durability. Just as we will attach importance to land use and site selection, we will accelerate the durability inspections of public buildings. We will lead the way in the spread of horizontal architecture in housing production.
"WE WILL PREVENT PROFITEERING IN URBAN TRANSFORMATION"
The fourth problem is the rentier management that consumes our cities. We will carry out urban transformation in a transparent and participatory manner that considers public interest, not rent. We will put an end to the profiteering and opportunistic management approach. In all municipalities where we receive the mandate, we will disrupt the order of those who are in love with turning green into concrete. We will disrupt the schemes of traitors who try to destroy forests."
