YÜKSEL ARSLAN RESIGNED
IYI Party Ankara Deputy Yüksel Arslan, known for his closeness to Mansur Yavaş, resigned from his party following these remarks by Akşener.
In his resignation message, Arslan stated, “I believe that supporting another candidate in a province where the party I am a member and deputy of has fielded a candidate is incompatible with politics, ethics, and courtesy. I see supporting Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Mansur Yavaş as a humanitarian, conscientious, and moral responsibility, as well as an act of loyalty.”
On the other hand, Ankara Provincial Chair Yener Yıldırım announced on his social media account that the party’s district chairs in Akyurt, Çubuk, Haymana, and Beypazarı in Ankara had been removed from their posts. Atila Çelik, an IYI Party member of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Council and a figure close to Mansur Yavaş, also announced his resignation from the party. Çelik said, “I will fight for Yavaş to emerge victorious from the 2024 elections as well.”
