Former İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener's visit to President and AKP Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on June 5 continues to resonate in politics.

İYİ Party Secretary General Uğur Poyraz, while commenting on the meeting in question, stated, "This meeting does not in any way bind the purpose, goals, and vision of the İYİ Party as a legal entity."

"THE BASE WILL NOT APPROVE"

İYİ Party member Koray Aydın had previously stated, "If the content of the meeting is not explained in a way that leaves no room for doubt, the perception of 'cozying up to the Palace or reaching an agreement with the government' will be tacitly accepted, and this situation will cause a major fracture in the İYİ Party base. It is also thought-provoking that the meeting took place during a period when constitutional discussions are being held. The base of the İYİ Party, one of whose most important founding purposes is to stand against the anti-democratic, rent-seeking, impoverishing, and state-hollowing policies of the AK Party government and to oppose the one-man regime, will never approve of this meeting."

In his evaluation to Altan Sancar from PolitikYol, İYİ Party Secretary General Uğur Poyraz drew attention to the fact that the Erdoğan-Akşener meeting was announced by the Directorate of Communications, saying, "This means that the parties wanted this meeting to be known by the public."

"IT CREATED DISAPPOINTMENT"

Poyraz also conveyed that the İYİ Party had learned about the meeting from the press.

Stating that "It is necessary to explain who requested it, what was discussed, and what the purpose and result were," Poyraz declared, "This meeting does not in any way bind the purpose, goals, and vision of the İYİ Party as a legal entity."

Poyraz evaluated the meeting with the words, "The Chair of the İYİ Party is Müsavat Dervişoğlu. I would like to express that not only were our Chair and our authorized bodies unaware of this meeting, the content of which is still unknown, but it has also created astonishment and disappointment for every party member who heard about it."
