İYİ Party Spokesperson Zorlu's response to AKP Spokesperson Çelik regarding Akşener: 'Can you stomach this?'

İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener’s reaction to the “Mehmetçik (Turkish soldiers) to Gaza” slogans was followed by a statement from AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, who said, “It is an extremely wrong and grave statement for a political party leader in the opposition to address immigrants and refugees in Turkey and say, ‘We will cover your expenses, go kill Israelis.’ Politics organizes to keep people alive, not to organize the killing of people through illegal means.” İYİ Party Spokesperson Kürşad Zorlu has now responded to this statement.

'OUR MEHMETÇİK CANNOT BE MADE A PARTNER TO THE GOVERNMENT'S WRONG POLICIES'

Zorlu used the following expressions in his post on his X account:

"Today, in response to a question, AKP Spokesperson Mr. Ömer Çelik took some expressions from our Chair Ms. Meral Akşener’s group speech to a different and unrealistic point.

Mr. Çelik, first of all, we recommend that you examine our Chair’s speech in more detail. Were there not also those among the crowd marching and chanting 'Mehmetçik to Gaza' who had fled the war and taken refuge in our country? Furthermore, can you stomach those who, while sitting comfortably and posting on social media, point the way to Gaza to our heroic Mehmetçik and tell them to 'go and fight there'?

What was meant in our Chair’s expression was directed at those who want to drag our country and our soldiers into an international humanitarian crisis. Since some are inviting the Turkish soldier to go there and fight, she showed their true faces to our Nation by saying, 'then let them go themselves.'

It should be known that our heroic Mehmetçik can never be made a partner to political adventures or the wrong policies of the political power."
