Waters do not calm in the IYI Party, where news of resignations has been coming one after another and allegations of corruption have been raised.

IYI Party leader Meral Akşener has referred Sakarya MP Ümit Dikbayır, who is the target of allegations that he “had the accounts of herself, her family, and her chief of staff investigated illegally,” to the disciplinary board with a request for permanent expulsion.

DİKBAYIR PREPARES TO RESIGN

Dikbayır, who denies the allegations and says he will file a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office regarding the accusations against him, is preparing to resign from the IYI Party this weekend with a statement in which he will voice counter-allegations.

DISCUSSED AT THE MEETING

At the meeting held over the weekend under the chairmanship of IYI Party Chair Meral Akşener, attended by MPs, members of the General Administrative Board (GİK), the Presidential Council, and mayors, the resignations and allegations regarding the party administration were discussed.

According to the information obtained, the allegations against Ümit Dikbayır, who was among Meral Akşener's close aides before the elections, were the most important agenda item at the meeting.

Allegations that Dikbayır had the bank accounts of Akşener's relatives, including her family and chief of staff, investigated illegally, that 132 million liras in the party's treasury had disappeared, and that Akşener and party members had cooperated with certain municipalities in exchange for financial gain were also addressed at the meeting.

'IF THEY PROVE IT, I WILL QUIT POLITICS'

According to information provided by IYI Party staff, Akşener used clear expressions at the meeting regarding these allegations, which are also being voiced behind the scenes.

It was learned that Akşener, who stated that the information that her accounts were investigated illegally was correct, said she would “quit politics” if the allegations were proven.

According to information reflected behind the scenes, Akşener used the following expressions:

“Neither I, nor my son, nor my daughter-in-law, nor my nephews, nor our childhood friends have any connection, business, or dealings with any municipality in this country, neither with AKP municipalities nor with CHP municipalities. Whoever cannot prove this is dishonorable. If it is proven, I will quit this politics entirely.”

Following the meeting held over the weekend, the IYI Party administration made an informative statement showing that there was no loss in its treasury and that the accounts were processed in accordance with the procedure.

IYI Party Deputy Chair Responsible for Election Affairs and Financial Affairs Sedat Aksakallı announced that there is 27 million 387 thousand TL in cash in the party's treasury.

'DISCIPLINARY MOVE' FROM AKŞENER TO DİKBAYIR

Following all these developments, IYI Party Spokesperson Kürşad Zorlu announced at the regular press conference, upon a question from journalists, that Dikbayır had been referred to the disciplinary board with a precautionary measure and a request for permanent expulsion upon Akşener's instruction.

The party administration did not make a clear statement regarding the reason for the referral to the disciplinary board by IYI Party Chair Akşener.

According to the news in BBC Türkçe, it was stated that Akşener would make important statements on this issue at the weekly group meeting on Wednesday.

CRIMINAL COMPLAINT AND RESIGNATION PREPARATION FROM DİKBAYIR

Dikbayır, on the other hand, denies the allegations made against him by the party administration.

It was learned that Dikbayır, who first submitted a petition for the party administration to investigate the allegations, will file a criminal complaint with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office following the decision to refer him to the disciplinary board.

Dikbayır shared a message on his social media account after the decision to refer him to the disciplinary board.

Stating in his evaluations to his close circle that he would not stay where he is not wanted, Dikbayır said that he would resign from the party this weekend without waiting for the disciplinary process.

It was learned that Dikbayır would respond to Akşener and the party administration with counter-allegations while announcing his resignation decision.

It is stated that Dikbayır, who blames Akşener's close circle regarding the allegations against him, wanted to meet with Akşener but no return was made to him.

'NEBİ HATİPOĞLU WANTED TO BE THE ESKİŞEHİR CANDIDATE'

Another agenda item at the IYI Party's weekend camp was the MPs who resigned from the party.

It was stated that the resignations of Ankara MP Adnan Beker and Eskişehir MP Nebi Hatipoğlu were not related to the IYI Party's decision to compete with its own candidates in the local elections.

The “inclination poll” method, by which parliamentary candidates were determined at the consultation meeting, became a subject of criticism.

Pointing out that the resigned Beker and Hatipoğlu were determined by the inclination poll, some party administrators claimed that some candidates used their financial power to ensure that the inclination poll resulted in their favor.
