İYİ Party's GİK says 'no': 'The decision is likely aimed at bringing an end to the party'

Journalist Fatih Altaylı evaluated the İYİ Party's decision to enter the elections independently following the CHP's request for cooperation, speaking on his personal YouTube channel regarding the GİK (General Administrative Board) meeting.

"A DECISION AIMED AT BRINGING AN END TO THE PARTY"

Altaylı recalled that figures who advocated for cooperation with the CHP in the local elections had left the party in recent weeks, and noted the subsequent internal debates, saying, "It was impossible for a decision that General Chair Meral Akşener did not want to emerge from the GİK. No GİK member wanted to be accused out of the blue, face accusations of harassment, or be the target of claims that they owed money to party members." 

Stating that "This decision by the İYİ Party GİK has left the party organization facing the question, 'Is politics done to lose?'", Altaylı added the following:

"This decision is likely a decision aimed at bringing an end to the party. The only remaining alternative could have been cooperation on a provincial basis without wholesale cooperation, approaches like 'I will support you in Istanbul, and you leave Balıkesir to me.' However, the environment of trust to ensure this does not exist for now. After this point, such a thing could only happen with a proposal from the İYİ Party, which also seems difficult.

"IT WILL BE SHARED BY ZAFER, MHP, CHP, AND THE AKP"

Under current conditions, the İYİ Party will be shared in the not-too-distant future by a new party that Yavuz Ağıralioğlu is preparing to establish, the Zafer Party, the MHP, the CHP, and the AK Party. Because the İYİ Party is not a party that will continue its existence despite election failures, as it is not a party with a sharp ideology or one that comes from a deep-rooted tradition."
