Justice Minister Tunç: We have reached the final stage in the new judicial reform

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç attended the Akşehir Courthouse Groundbreaking Ceremony in the Akşehir district of Konya.

'WE WILL STRENGTHEN THE SENSE OF JUSTICE'

Speaking at the event, Minister Tunç stated the following:

"We carried out a one-year study while preparing the new Judicial Reform Strategy Document. Within this study, we received opinions regarding practice and legislation from our judges and prosecutors, our clerical staff, our lawyers, and all our practitioners, from the first instance courts to appellate courts, the Court of Cassation, and high courts. We have received opinions on how to make our justice system more reliable in terms of both quality and quantity, and how to further consolidate a predictable justice system.

At the end of a one-year study, we have brought a comprehensive Judicial Reform Strategy Document to the final stage in line with the opinions received from our citizens, non-governmental organizations working in this field, our political parties, bar associations, law faculties, universities, and academics. Hopefully, our President will share it with the public in a few weeks. We want to express this in particular: We are saying that we will accelerate efforts that will further strengthen the sense of justice in society.

We will share with our nation our studies and goals that will reveal what concrete steps this consists of, and the important concrete targets that will further increase our citizens' trust in the judiciary in our legislation, both in the field of criminal law and private law."

'WE WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT AGAINST CRIMINAL NETWORKS'

Minister Tunç continued as follows:

"We will continue to implement regulations that will eliminate the perception that 'the perpetrator gets away with it.' We are in the land of Rumi. What does Mevlana say when defining justice? Justice is putting everything in its place. He says, 'Justice is giving what is due to those who deserve it; if it is punishment, it is punishment; if it is private law, it is doing the work to ensure one receives their rights as soon as possible.' Therefore, there should be no perception among our citizens that the perpetrator gets away with it.

We have made significant progress in this regard over the last 22 years, and we will continue to do so. We will continue to take concrete steps to prevent negative situations that cause discomfort in the public conscience. Again, there are some changes and new needs in our legislation in line with the opinions we have received from practitioners, lawyers, judges, and prosecutors to ensure that justice is served without delay. Hopefully, we will present these to our legislative body as drafts and realize these goals one by one.

We will never compromise on the fight against criminal networks that threaten the peace and security of our nation. We will do whatever is necessary to strengthen this fight and to eliminate, one by one, the criminal networks that threaten the peace and security of our nation. By making the necessary changes, we will strive to eliminate practices that disturb the public conscience. Of course, we are also striving to strengthen the human element that will carry out these practices: our judges, prosecutors, and justice personnel."
