Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu emphasizes justice in İzmir: The struggle is one of rights and virtue

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the CHP chairmanship by court order, emphasized justice at the “National Consciousness and Strong Turkey Meeting” held in İzmir’s Karşıyaka district. Families continuing their search for justice and rights also attended the meeting at the Suat Taşer Open-Air Theater.

Drawing attention to the pain experienced by the families in his speech, Kılıçdaroğlu stated that the state's fundamental duty is to ensure justice. Stating that judges, prosecutors, and security forces must fight against injustices, Kılıçdaroğlu expressed that covering up incidents would harm the state and the rule of law.

Kılıçdaroğlu also touched upon the imprisoned former İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer, saying, “We are also seeking justice for Tunç Soyer. Just as we seek it for everyone, we are seeking it for him as well. We hope that justice will be served in a short time.”

“THEY ARE STRUGGLING FOR JUSTICE”

Defining the concept of “national consciousness” as “not memorizing the past, but bearing responsibility for the future,” Kılıçdaroğlu said that the families shared their experiences with this sense of responsibility. Kılıçdaroğlu stated that people with different views struggling together for the future of the same country is also a part of national consciousness.

Stating that ensuring peace and security in Turkey is the responsibility of those who govern the state, Kılıçdaroğlu said that citizens should not remain silent in the face of injustice and unfairness.

In a part of his speech, Kılıçdaroğlu also touched upon the drug problem, stating that it is one of Turkey's significant issues. Arguing that the fight against drugs will not yield results by only targeting street dealers, Kılıçdaroğlu expressed that the real culprits and distribution networks must be uncovered.

Stating that he views the education, merit, employment, and the ability of young people to build a future in their own country as a “matter of national power,” Kılıçdaroğlu emphasized that politics must be conducted on moral foundations.

My request to you is, wherever you encounter an injustice, please let me know. The struggle is a struggle for justice. It is a struggle for rights. It is a struggle for virtue. It is a struggle for character.

At the end of his speech, Kılıçdaroğlu stated that politics is not a “means of enrichment” or an “area for closing files,” adding, “Politics is an area for serving the public.” Stating that they will continue the struggle for justice, Kılıçdaroğlu used the expression, “We will never shy away from paying the price for justice.”
