At the Republican People's Party (CHP) congress held in November 2023, Özgür Özel was elected chairman with 812 votes.
The lawsuit filed for the annulment of this congress was initiated by former Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş and some delegates. The second hearing of the case, which is being heard at the Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance, will be held on June 30.
Former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has broken his silence regarding this legal process.
Speaking to journalist Yılmaz Polat, Kılıçdaroğlu stated, "It is wrong for the Republican People's Party to be debated in courtrooms. I will not debate it," indicating that he will not attend the hearing.
Kılıçdaroğlu stated that it is not right to comment on possibilities, preferring to use cautious language.
CHP AND CONSTITUTION ANALOGY
Kılıçdaroğlu frequently expresses that he likens the CHP to the first four articles of the Constitution.
Regarding the question of whether he has met with Özgür Özel in recent days, he said that they last came together at the funeral ceremony of Manisa Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek.
He also recalled that they met at a dinner hosted by Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş last September.
All eyes will be on Kılıçdaroğlu ahead of the hearing on June 30. How Kılıçdaroğlu's decision not to attend the hearing will affect the process has already become a subject of curiosity.
